Longing

I have climbed the highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you....Only to be with you
I have run... I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls...these city walls
Only to be with you

But I still haven't found...What I'm looking for

But I still haven't found...What I'm looking for

I have kissed honey lips....Felt the healing fingertips
It burned like fire....This burning desire
I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night...I was cold as a stone

But I still haven't found....What I'm looking for

But I still haven't found...What I'm looking for

I believe in the Kingdom Come
Then all the colors will bleed into one.....bleed into one
But yes I'm still running.
You broke the bonds
And you loosened the chains
Carried the cross
And my shame...And my shame
You know I believed it

But I still haven't found...What I'm looking for

But I still haven't found...What I'm looking for

I have climbed the highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you...Only to be with you
I have run... I have crawled...
I have scaled these city walls...these city walls
Only to be with you

But I still haven't found...What I'm looking for

But I still haven't found...What I'm looking for

But I still haven't found...What I'm looking for

But I still haven't found....What I'm looking for

Song by U2, "I Still haven't found What I'm looking for"

The two songs I put in this blog, I think captures the very heart of each of our journey in finding meaning and purpose in our lives. The U2 song speaks to our longing.... We are meant for something deeper, that we are searching for something so much it makes our hearts ache. The second song by Leeland reflects that deeper something that can be discovered and experienced - having a love relationship with God. I have been a Christian for 32 years, and continue to feel that longing for deeper love. This longing and yearning has led me to a deeper intimacy with God. .....

To fall hopelessly, madly in love with God and experience that He is hopelessly and madly in love with each one of us.

I can't believe You're here close to me

It's getting hard to stand.... But I don't want to leave

Your beauty stands out... Like a bright light shining through the clouds

It's overwhelming just to be with You now...

I can't stop,

I can't stop falling in love with You

I can't stop, I can't stop falling in love with You

Your love is in my heart tonight (yes, I know)

I can't stop, I can't stop falling in love with You

I'm in love with You

In this space and time ...You touch my soul

I can't escape Your love for me

So You take control ....Your spirit surrounds me

Close enough to catch me when I fall
I can't escape Your love for me

I surrender all
You've risen like the sun ...Darkness fades with the dawn

You are the radiant one... And You give me light
Your love is in my heart tonight

Your love is in my heart tonight

I can't stop, I can't stop falling in love with You

I can't stop, I can't stop falling in love with You

“Should Christians Seek Professional Counseling?”

This was written by Blaine Carman, M.A., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is a part of our team at Four Streams Christian Counseling.

We are living in challenging times with a great deal of uncertainty. This uncertainty can breed anxiety, resulting in behavior which is both self-destructive and harmful to our relationships. Within a marriage, it may cause couples to experience distance from one another and to have conflicts they cannot seem to understand or resolve.

Our faith in God is sometimes tested during these times. Sometimes it’s hard to discern God’s will for us during times of crisis or challenges in specific areas of our lives, such as our jobs, relationships, or our financial situation. Or sometimes we may even have a sense of what Jesus would like us to do in a particular situation, but we have a hard time actually carrying it out.

The Bible gives us the blueprint for life. At times, though, we struggle with how to apply the blueprint because of habits and patterns from our past that still drive our behavior. Even though we have new life in Christ, we can still have habits of communicating or acting toward others in ways which are not very Christ-like, resulting in painful results. Since some of these habits have been learned over a lifetime, it can take a specific process to help “undo them” and allow us to truly give them to God.

This is where professional Christian counseling can help. Together, with the help of God, a professional Christian counselor can help support a person in letting go of some of those patterns so that they can more fully live the life God intended for them. Counseling can help us to better understand our unique issues and to discover solutions that lead us back to individual and family harmony and a deeper connection with God.

Do you know how many times the word “counselor” is mentioned in the Bible? More than 500 times. And Jesus himself was known as the Wonderful Counselor. The Bible teaches us to seek “wise counsel” in times of trouble. Therefore, whether you’re going through a challenging time or just feel you need an outside perspective to gain clarity about what you’re dealing with, consider consulting a professional Christian counselor. This may be a way of God reaching out to you.
